Introduction

For our CASR Field Work Presentation, our group focused on analyzing the international area of YVR Airport. We provided an overview of the airport’s operations, covering crucial topics like aerodrome classification, security screening, and aircraft departure processes. We explored the design and functionality of sterile and restricted areas, as well as the primary security line and surveillance systems, including cameras. Additionally, we examined the roles of various key stakeholders, such as RAIC, CBSA, CBP, airlines, airport authorities, and police, in maintaining security and efficiency in the international terminal. This project gave us a comprehensive understanding of the complex security protocols and collaborative efforts involved in managing international operations at a major airport.

What I learned

Through the CASR Field Work Presentation on the international area of YVR, I gained a deeper understanding of airport security and operations. I learned how various components, such as aerodrome classification, security screening, and restricted areas, work together to ensure safety and efficiency in an international terminal. The project also highlighted the importance of collaboration between different stakeholders, including airlines, CBSA, CBP, and airport authorities, in managing the flow of passengers and cargo. This experience enhanced my knowledge of airport security protocols and operational coordination, and I developed a greater appreciation for the complexities involved in international aviation.
